SAAB 340 Loses Prop in Flight

Must be a unique experience watching your propellor disappear over your wing in flight.
Very fortunate it departed in a fore and aft axis and not laterally, and that the assembly remained whole and didn't fragmemt
It would be interesting to map the aerodynamics of the propellor package on seperating and literally flying over the wing. And the distance between the empenage on its aft passage.
Well done to the crew managing the post incident ops.
No report of the prop being recovered at this stage.

Wasn't in the flight plan obviously and not on the pax briefing card.

Update ATSB file no. - AO-2017-32 -active and pending. Service bulletins published to monitor and detect any dowell pin corrosion in th prop reduction gear and shaft areas during current operations of SAAB 340 operators.
