Tip for WAC Charts and Nav items.

Postby ozloadie » Wed Aug 06, 2014 2:03 am

if you are fortunate to get hold of an ERSA or subscribe to them, don't throw the old ones out straight away.
Not all of the information is out of date.
It's handy to cut out the still current aerodrome diagrams and abandoned airfield diagrams relative to the respective WAC chart and stick/contact them in their relevant locations on the rear of that chart.
The latest cockpit and nav bag technologies are great while they work, however when the ergs stop flowing, the WAC chart with the ERSA pics on the reverse are a simple one document resource easily managed in the office.

A couple of china graph pencils are handy as well. You can write on the window perspex surfaces and they won't scratch the surface. Clean off with a soft cloth.

Penlights/mini mags - store with batteries out separate, they''ll last longer.
Cyalume or chem sticks are a handy addition to the nav bag as well as a back up light source.

The EMERG section is also useful to cut out and put in your first aid kits, including the one in the car.
What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

Spot on!
The value of that information will never die. (pardon the pun!)
